Executive Summary: National LGBTI Survey in Dominican Republic
Executive summary of the most complete carried out in the Dominican Republic, it characterizes the sociodemographic conditions and living conditions of LGBTI people in the Dominican Republic and identifies the structural barriers that hinder the full exercise of human rights for LGBTI people. It involved a survey with 7,122 responses from all over the country, and Dominican men and women abroad. The study provides evidence of the impact that stigma has on LGBTI people, as well as the social and economic costs related to the exclusion and discrimination to which they are subjected, which requires a joint action of the institutions of the State, civil society, academia, faith-based organizations, the media and the private sector to promote inclusion and end inequalities experienced by LGBTI people.
